On Writing

This week I've re-encountered the beauty of writing with a pen, on an actual book,
Just writing mindlessly, capturing the first idea, or image, or feeling that I have in mind.

It has taken me by surprise, how quickly (or slowly) a page fills up.
How far I've been taken by my own mind,
How deep I've fallen or sympathized with the characters that emerged.

And how I fell in love with my own, ugly yet sweet, hand writing :p

Sadly, writing is not just about that.
It's taking those spontaneous bursts and then touching it up.
Working it out, pampering it with some make up, pushing and pulling here and there, patching with bits and pieces from borrowed journals, round and round the same spot until you find just the right rhyme or rhythm or connotation or metaphor or tone or pace.

But there too one can find joy :)

Writing heals.
Writing releases.
Writing lets go.

Writing helps when there's no one else to turn to and no tears left to shed.
And writing can take you to places where you can only dream of, for now. Until you eventually get there, one day.

And that's why I love writing :)

I love coming in and out of the falling and the heartbreaks.
I love being burned by passion and urgency, sometimes by anger and disagreement, and slowly realizing what matters more.

And I love words and I love sentences.
I love my hand-writing and the sound and movement) of my fingers hitting my melodious laptop's keyboard.

But just, sometimes,
I wish writing is not that difficult. And everyone can just agree on what I write, instead of me trying hard to understand people I write for.
Perks and the not-perks of being a creative writing student. :|

But I don't plan to stop :)
A lifestyle I want to continue doing for a very, very very long time :)
