Holiday Challenge - Food in Australia

Wow. The holiday is officially over, and now it's Back-to-School time!
But! Before I'm talking about anything related to school,
I just want to finish the Holiday Challenge with Aussie Trip Recap! :D

yup!
The last 2 weeks of my 'summer' holiday was spent mostly in Sydney with my big family - my grandparents, my aunties and uncles, and my dad, mom, and sister :)
We had LOADS of fun! :D
*What might not be so fun is the looks of the maitre d's, knowing we had around 10-17 people in our party WITHOUT RESERVATION*

Every time I went to a different place, I'm always curious about the food that they offer in that place. Especially in Aussie, not all the food is classic Australian. There's also Chinese *of course :p*, even Indonesian, Thai, Vietnamese, also things like Italian, Spanish, even Greek!

I think in this post I'm going to review all about foodies stuff! :D

First Day in Aussie, we were in Melbourne.
We stopped by at this Churros shop, which sell churros with all kinds of dipping sauces and hot drinks. It was delicious and warming, since it was cold out for it was my first ever WINTER! :D:D

Btw, one thing I love about eating out in US or Aussie, water is always free! hahaa :P:P sometimes they even had already provided the water pitchers and glasses, and we just took some ourselves :D

So we had Churros for snacking, then we had Vietnamese pho for dinner. The place is called 'Mekong' restaurant, and in front of the store there's this sign 'President Bill Clinton had 2 bowls, how many can you have?'
Seems exaggerating? maybe. Seriously though, it's one of the best pho I've ever tasted.

GAZI Restaurant.
On the second day, we toured and went to some universities, and had lunch in this Thai resto. It was nice, but it was not the highlight of the day. That night, I went to GAZI Restaurant.

Now, as you might know, I LOVE masterchef Australia series. Since I was there in Aussie, I might as well tried their food creation by visiting one of their restaurants! And Gazi is a new restaurant, so I went there and first thing that I notice was how warm the place is! Hahaa! like really warm, and also cozy but modern as well. (The female toilet even has PINK lights, pink hand wash and hand lotion which smells super nice)
The food was amazing, although it might be a little pricey and it might be a little too  much for us. We ordered the 'Do It Greek Style' 10 courses menus. We ended up not finishing all of the food, but we were (or at least I was) very happy and pleased by every thing. The bread was warm and the dips was fresh, the fish was tasty, the souvlakia were delicious. The dessert was also very nice :) Very pleasing!

Hurricane's Grill in Bondi
Moving on to Sydney!
Hurricane's Grill has been famous for its steaks and ribs, so that's just what we ordered. Steaks and ribs. The steak was juicy and flavorful, the ribs are sticky, sweet, succulent! The waiters are very friendly as well, and helping this "Can we have this, can we have that?" family sincerely :D:D

Pancake on the Rock
When I heard the name, I thought, "Is the Pancake going to be served on top of stones, like those spa stones?"
Nope.
Turnes out, the 'ROCK' is the name of the area! Right across the Sydney Opera House :D

The pancake was so fluffy and yummy! Really filling though for 'just' a pancake :p
It was more like a cake, so maybe if you want to recreate this, grab a cake mix and pour it on your pancake pan :)
I had the chocolate pancake, and even though I have to say, I love the plain one better, the chocolate pancake was sooo rich and they don't skimp on the chocolate! And if you want even more moist and fluff, order the extra buttermilk one! But really, you don't have to. It's already nice!

Lowenbrau Keller
I had Greek in Australia, I had German too. And unlike Gazi, which is still very 'modern and Aussie', Lowenbrau threw me right to Germany. And this is no place for families too I think, haha :P even though at the end of dinner time I love the place, it was very scary at the beginning. Very noisy, lots of people screaming and drinking. There might be some drunk people as well. Not an ideal place for families, but yummy food!
This is the first time I tried German food and they're nice! Very different to our food here in Indonesia, but it was just as tasty and delicious.
If you drink beer, *which I don't for I'm not old enough :p* they had yummy beers here :) *Can you say beer 'yummy'?* They brew their own beers so the flavors are still sweet.
It was a fun experience overall in Lowenbrau *Still in the Rock area, btw!*

Gloria Jeans
Now, Gloria Jeans is more like Starbucks than a restaurant - you know that, don't you?
I never ever heard about this before, but then there I just had like 100s of glasses of Gloria Jeans haha :D:D
of course it must be the caramel stuffs- caramel latte, macchiatto, i don't know.
nice nice nice!! :D:D And in Aussie, you can find Gloria Jeans literally in every corner! Countless, heaps!

That's my foodie highlight!
Mostly we ate chinese, thai, korean food when we weren't trying these other special foods :)
Oh and also Subway!!!! :D:D:D yes I had Subway like 3 times, and your average KFC *Or was it McD?*

One more thing.
In Sydney I lived in a hotel-apartment place typething, and I lived just across a mall with Coles :)
Right outside the Coles, there is this shack selling Crepes!
I had no chance to try their crepes until juuusstt the last night there, while the others were having dinner at a nearby Korean BBQ *Just 1 block away :p*
I ran to Coles and bought the crepes with nutella+banana.
Ha! Delicious!  And it wasn't just nutella-delicious, the batter itself was delicious! And the texture is so cute :P it wants to be crispy but it can only stay soft :p:p:p

So,
wherever you are going, make sure you try foods from there, foods sold there, anything tasty and anything good, try them! Be adventurous about food! Especially if you are travelling with your family, every meal is going to be fabulous :)

CHEERS!

P.S: Coke frosty is superb. underline.

Holiday Challenge - Day 13-14 RECAP

Not much happening, so I'll have to make a recap post :) That too still results in a very short post. sorry!!!

Nice things happened actually, such as going to facial treatment and stole a nap *:p*, had some daydreaming sessions :) Oh! And also I had been watching lots and lots of Law and Order SVU :p I'm a new fan!!! :D:D
After Castle, this one is a new fave! Go check it out! It's definitely lighter than say CSI and Hannibal *Ooops unrelated i think*, but still amazing and tense!

But I also had some nightmares O.O yep yep, but I'm fine anyway! :)

Can't wait to see my cousins in a few hours!:D

Cheers!
